Going to go straight to the event people want to see, the 100m.
Anyway, Bolt isn't going to win it this year, he's not even the fastest man in Jamaica anymore, his training partner has surpassed him now. Yohan Blake is going to win this year..
So has Bolt shot his Bolt ? I think so. 4 years of enjoying his superstardom and sampling the playboy lifestyle has taken the edge off his performances. That 9.58 will stand for many many years I reckon, if only he'd been pushed harder in that race who knows he could have gone sub 9.5 instead of celebrating 10m before the line ! But he's 26 soon and although most people would consider 25 as a peak age for an athlete I think Bolt was- like Tyson an early developer and it's downhill from here. Get on Blake to win the 100m, he's a strong fav IMO, Bolt silver or bronze Also be interesting to see how Adam Gemili get's on, loads of potential and only 18 years old the kid is fast

Blake knew he needed to peak at the Jamaican trails to be sure of qualification for the olympics as the Jamaican spint team is that strong. Bolt knew he could qualify at less than 100% and is planning to hit his peak at the big one. I think we could see something special in London. Of course this is just my opinion, rather than shoot mine down, add your own! :-)

Bolt for me as well and in Bolt in the 200
The lead up counts for nothing, unless he genuinely is carrying an injury.
I remember several years Asafa Powell was comfortably the quickest in the world all season. Then the olympics or Worlds came along and he crumbled.
I dont think there will be any world records set though. |

Totally agree, Bolt has the mental superiority over Blake born out of beating him in training over and over again. The rest of the fields best chance is Bolt being so worried about false starting that he gets a terrible start or it gets into his head so much he even false starts. If he gets even an average start he will win easily. |

He is 4/5 on Betfair to win the 100m.
So he is basically 4/5 to be injury free and not get a false start.
Lump on :P |

He can't afford a very poor start again. Blake is quick. Tyson Gay is too. It could be a very quick race. Bolt is still favourite but he is by no means a shoe in IMO. |
Manchester United's last THIRTEEN league titles have all been won through favourable refereeing decisions. Fact. :0) |

Im not sure how often Blake does win in training, but I watched a programme on bbc in which they interviewed Blake and he said he really focussed on beating Bolt in training (even when it wasnt proper racing) so that he didnt lose the mental edge to him. Bolt has had massive problem with the start, probably because he is so tall. All that aside, if he is fully fit and has a reasonable start its hard to see him losing.

If Bolt's fully fit he wins the sprint double. WRs will depend upon the weather I would think.

The 100m is more open than the 200m IMO. More factors to go wrong. |

Being humbug here but cant wait for it to be over. TV and papers will be full of nothing else till it is. Even more so if any team GB team or person wins.

Very good in parts but confusing in others.
Why o why do they keep dragging poor old Mohammad Ali out ? He had to be held up by his nurse last night and didn't seem to know what was going on. Let the fellow have a rest.

I said exactly the same thing last night as I watched it. The woman holding him up was telling him to wave but he either didn't understand or couldn't manage it. I wish they would just let him rest and let us remember him as he was.

The same could be said of the Queen, she looked oblivious at times during that ceremony.
