I think bigger cash leagues should be between friends or at least people who know one another quite well. Are we having our usual side bet?

Said before I'll gladly pay £30 if it means monthly prizes. Then everybody has an incentive to keep trying all season, it's too easy for 2 or 3 to run away with the league leaving everybody else playing for fun.
I've no interest in upping the fund just to give it to top 3.
I'd suggest £30 per user with a monthly prize of £20, then 1st / 2nd (and maybe 3rd) overall.

If that's what the people want then I am happy to go with that. Just don't want people to feel pressured into it.
There are 10 months in the season albeit August and May are shorter. The site automatically works out monthly winners for each and every league so its very easy to administer.
As there are 10 months I would suggest if we can can 10 plus people to do it then it would be worth it.
10*30 = 300 10 * monthly prizes of £20 £70 winner £30 runner up
The other league I am in regularly throws up multiple monthly winners so almost half the people who enter see something back.
But that's based on people wanting to go with that format. It's up to you guys to sell it to the usual suspects and others you know who like a punt. Be nice to keep it to site users/posters though.

if we can get 13/14 like we have done last couple of years that would do us.
14x30=420 10x20 monthly=200 winner 120 runner up 60 third 40
that would be a decent turnout

You can also run a 'head to head' league on the same site, which gives people with lower total scores an equal chance of winning. The guy who came 4th last of our works 26 man league last year, finished second in the head to head league and picked up a few quid. It works like a cup draw, in that each week a player is drawn against another player, and the winner gets 3 points in a league table event. We had some funny results last year with for example the second highest scorer that week loosing as he happened to be drawn against the top scorer, and a person with not even half the points of the one beaten by the top score, picking up 3 points as he was matched with an even bigger muppet. Can be payed out as a staright league table, most points at the end of the season wins, or you can elect to have the last 3 weeks run as a top 8 players matched off in a quarters, semi and final to find a winner. There was more interest in the head to head league at work as there wasnt a run away leader!
Another Option is the Talk Sport scores prediction league, which we also run at work. Have to predict the match scores for each Prem game. cant remember the exact scoring, but its something like 10 points for a correct result (i.e. predict Arsenal to win 1-0 and they actually win 2-0, so its the right result just not the exact score), 30-points for an exact score, 20 points for correctly predicting a draw, 30-points if the right score draw. -10 points for the wrong result. You play one 'banker' card each week, giving 3 x the score (i.e. score 30-points and get 3x = 90 points) and one 'insurance' card which will guarantee even if you get the score wrong and should get -10 points, you get 0 as the insurance. Most points over the season wins. With a potential 360 points max per week, no one is ever really out of it. Just like Fantasy Football its free to enter, go online weekly to input predictions, league table automatically updated with results after each day. | Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional. |

If doing monthly prize I presume it wouldnt be just to top of the table at the end of that month, it would be either top score for that month, or the person with the highest score in one week during that month? I would be happy to put in whatever, be that normal league with monthly and final prizes, head to head league as well as normal league, and/or the scores predictions league, or all of the above! h2h league is a fun addition. I entered a pure h2h league last season and despite sitting top with 2 weeks to go I finished 5th (bubble)! Had to play someone on a wild card which didn't help at all but thems the breaks. Maybe we could allocate a little towards that.
For MOTM it's purely who has scored most points that actual month. All the details on how it's worked out are on the actual site. On the total score page there is a drop down menu to show who won which month be it August, September or whatever. Gives everyone an equal chance in every month.
Bottom line is we need more people to enter so think of people who post in the football threads and if you know them simply ask.
Cheers.

I'm in. I would be up for 30 quid if it's for a monthly prize to the biggest scorer in the month as suggested, but not if it were just to raise the stakes for the season-long comp.

Up to 8 now with a month to go till kick off. Everyone so far seems happy with £30 stake. £20 of this will defo go towards monthly prizes as looks like we will hit 10 no problem.
The excess will go towards final positions and hopefully there will be a little left for the random h2h league.

I have 2 mates who may be interested, but I'd prefer to only ask them if we're short of numbers in a week or so.
Let me know :)
