Seems to be a bit of a common thing just lately with promoters pushing events by the minute to get the entrants in and then taking days to put any results up... Even when we are promised "live" updates. Poor show to be honest .. [ This message was edited by: potalot1 on 2008-08-25 22:06 ]

Wouldn't bet on that either, Stanley did me 6-2 in round 1, cant believe how difficult i made the game look. Frustrating, but half expected.
Who did you ??

Personally I think the site police should take action and refuse any publicity for any of their events in the future.

To be fair to Daz, his first and main priority is the people who actually make the effort to attend the event.
If I'm running an event, the last thing I'm bothered about is adding an extra job to already running round like a blue-arsed fly or sitting in front of a laptop all day to do live bloody scoring on the internet.
If you're that interested in the event, go to it!

Yesterday was a mess in some respects, I personally couldn't attend and Daz left Chesterfield late on Saturday night, played in a comp on Sunday and was in Leicester on Monday. In the end there were 66 runners with Tom Ford beating Jack Whelan in the final 6-5. There were never going to be any live updates with this event. As for Saturday without wireless internet we are pretty much cream crackered and can't do streaming or live updates. As soon as the Oatcake has time he will upload the vid's. The streaming/update issues are down to the clubs involved and it would be a tad bizarre to think we don't post results etc because we always do (there has only ever been one exception).

While I think that Daz has a commendable enthusiasm for the game he really needs to become far more professional. Club 147 has some excellent facilities available to make the whole tournament experience a lot better than average. Large screens, wireless access etc. If he’d have asked we would have provided this for him! To turn up without a pc was shocking to say the least! As a player it’s great to see the draw etc up on the screen and it is far easier to keep track of the day with a bit of technology. I agree that a priority is to the players that actually turn up but if you are promoting as much as Daz is then it’s also about encouraging the armchair players to turn up as well.

The bottom line is that Daz isn't a professional and this is still essentially his hobby, I shall let him field his own response but until Monday he had only expected 32 is runners at short notice and not 66.

Exactly. This was a local event set up at relatively short notice. I lost count of the number of players who came up and shook my hand thanking us for a job well done and a great tournament. If anyone was shocked by the way we run events then we are sorry for that but it is the minority and we keep filling these events so we must be doing something right.
Needless to say the venue have asked us to run more, as and when our busy weekly schedule allows.

i totally agree, i've only played a couple of these events but they have been very well run, i think the people that run these events do a marvellous job and the game of pool needs these people.

Instead of telling us how crap he is, why don't you ask him if he needs a hand? P.S. Thanks for organising a good day Darren, me and most of the competitors are very grateful for all the time and effort and personal sacrifice you put into running pool events and realise that if you didn't put the time in there would be far fewer events.

What a load of Rubbish . Firstly, the event was advertised on here on the 21st July - over a month before the event and I'd hazard a guess that the event was confirmed to Daz well before that too. Not exactly short notice is it? Secondly, again in the first post in this thread there are 35 entrants advertised so to say there were only 32 runners expected is not true.

It was arranged about a day before it was posted on here Marv and also I was 3 off 32 on the list a day before so for that I am truly sorry.
