North West Blackball Tour Event 1, Swinton Leisure

Over the weekend 21-22 July players from around the country descended on Swinton Leisure, for the first North West Blackball Pool Tour Event of the year, to compete in 5 Blackball pool competitions. Mark Beeson was the dominant player over the weekend at Swinton Leisure winning two events. On the Saturday, in the main event, Beeson beat Neil Raybone 7-6 in the final and on the Sunday he beat Mark Bradburn 6-1 in the final of the seniors event.

Mark, who lives in Altrincham and plays pool from Rileys in Altrincham and Club Replay in Stockport adds the weekend wins to a successful year to date as he has already won his local league 'Merit' award for most wins in the Sale & Altrincham League. Cheshire C County Pool side who he also plays for are currently top of the Central North division and his Club Replay team currently top the Stockport & District League.

Beeson said "I am thrilled to win both these prestigious events hosted by Swinton Leisure and English Blackball Pool Federation. I played well all weekend and had that bit of good running from time to time. The venue was one of the best I have ever played at, the staff were friendly and professional at all times and the tour event ran like clockwork. I can't wait to defend my title at the next tour event".

On his way to the main event title Beeson beat Welsh international and 2011/12 National Tour champion, Dave Roblin, in the semi final and beat English international and 2011 World Masters champion, Neil Raybone, in the final.

Other results from the weekend events. In the ladies event, Stacey Jones won, beating Danielle McClleland, 5-4 in the final. In the junior event Josh Thomond beat Daniel Kay 6-1 in the final. The plate event was won by Jason King, who beat Peter McLoughlin 4-3 in the final.
