Snooker News juan-king writes

This new feature on World Snooker will focus on one player each month, giving an insight into his life on and off the table. First up is Pokerstars.com Masters champion Mark Selby.

Part One: "Thorne on my side"

“I first picked up a cue at the age of seven, playing English pool. My dad was a keen player so my brother and I went to the club with him. I started playing snooker when I was nine and, of course at first I found it difficult as it’s very different to pool. But by the time I was 11 I had made my first century.

Interviews Lils writes CueClubInt's very own reporter, Donna Evans (aka Lils) is on site at the Vauxhall Holiday Park in Great Yarmouth, sending us the very latest news and views from what many pool players will describe as their 'Mecca' - The EPA Inter-County weekend.
Here, she manages to grab a word with Kevin 'The Doctor' O'Connor, Surrey B and Tolworth Interleague Captain.

CCI:     Kev, you’re the reigning holders of the B team Inter-County title; how confident are you that you can defend this successfully?

KO’C: I think it’s even money, but i’m giving everyone who asks a different answer! Last year we drew 3 out of our 5 matches when Bristol and Staffordshire could have easily beaten us, so I believe the teams are very evenly balanced..

International Tour juan-king writes
Infomercial king Kevin Trudeau may think he can sell snow to Eskimos, but he was unable to persuade a federal judge Wednesday not to sentence him to time behind bars for bombarding the judge's e-mail account with messages from supporters last week.

U.S. District Judge Robert Gettleman sentenced the TV pitchman to 30 days in custody and ordered him to return to court Thursday to turn himself in to U.S. marshals. Trudeau's lawyers promised an immediate appeal in a last-ditch effort to keep the pitchman free.

Gettleman came to a boil last week after Trudeau used an Internet radio broadcast and his Web site to urge supporters to e-mail the judge with messages about how Trudeau's products had changed their lives.

The judge has been overseeing a civil complaint filed by the Federal Trade Commission, in which he previously had found Trudeau in contempt of court for using deceptive advertising as he marketed a book.
